Killarney, Ireland
After kissing the Blarney Stone, Gregg and I headed North, towards Killarney. Killarney is a tourist packed town and we didn't want to stay in that sort of setting, so this was merely a drive by for us as we took photos of castles and other random things on our way to the Ring of Kerry and our hotel for the evening.

These signs in Gaelic were not making our navigation easy.
Here is another good example of the countryside of Ireland. What I wouldn't give to live like this.
Here are how most of the in town houses are situated, right on the street. The Irish are a lovely happy people. That fact must be because of the beer because I cannot imagine finding the living situation IN TOWN ideal. Outside of town though, that sort of thing was MORE than ideal.
Tourist central, Killarney.
We stopped at the tourist information center to pick up a more detailed map and Gregg came upon this lovely site. This is their version of a urinal. Apparently you urinate onto the wall there, it runs down into the trough, and out the building. I cannot imagine how gross that floor gets.
We finally made it to Ross Castle. We have some good friends back in Virginia whose last name is Ross, so we had to get a few photos and perhaps a piece of the castle wall to bring back for them.
Ross Castle is just outside of Killarney Town. This 15th century fortress still guards the edge of the Lower Lake. Built by the O'Donoghue chieftains, the castle was the last stronghold in Munster to surrender to Cromwell's forces in 1652. But it could not withstand time as well as the English Army, and all that remains is a tower house, surrounded by a fortified walled garden with rounded turrets. The tower has been furnished in the style of the late 16th and 17th centuries.

Too beautiful...I'm impressed with your navigation skills, esp. when the street names are in a whole new language!
