New Address...

I know that I am late at sending out the new address, but the change of address notifications will be on their way out as soon as I get them from the manufacturer. Our mail is being forwarded from the Virginia Beach address, but if you need the new address prior to next week, send me an email (at Wasemiller1@cox.net) or post here under comments and I will get the new address out to you earlier.

We hope to get lots of Christmas cards from all our friends and family again this year, so don't forget about us here in Nebraska!

The New Place

Today we got mostly finished with unpacking boxes. Things aren't quite settled, but they are coming along. I thought I would share a few photos of the new house. It's quite different than our last place, more of an open floor plan which I'm not real hip on. Maybe it will grow on me?

Here's the kitchen. It's nice and big, the black granite is a pain though. The kids enjoy eating breakfast at the bar. I like all the counter space.

The ceilings are so high in this house, I feel SO short all the time.

Here's the eat in kitchen. Something looks off in here, any ideas?

Here's a shot of the family room. This one needs some work. Gregg went out and bought this 50" plasma and a Bose sound system before our things even arrived, he was dying without the usual comforts apparently.

Here's the formal front room, or sitting room as they call it around these parts. The tray ceilings are interesting, though kind of annoying. I don't know why they were totally left white.

Formal dining area...

Staircase, not sure about these spindles. I would have chosen differently. The clock fits nicely here in the entry though.

Master Bedroom. It is smaller than our last one, but has all the same things like fireplace, sitting area and an awesome bathroom. The only thing different is this one has a 130 sq foot walk in closet of which we are taking full advantage!

The gas fireplace is really nice. Fire on command at the flip of a switch. The TV is a bit large for the room since the bed is closer to the wall in this room, but we're OK with it.

The sitting area is smaller, but the couch fits and it's a perfect spot for a lazy Sunday afternoon nap. As you can see, Jolie favors the bed.

Master Bath.

Master Bath, not sure about the separate vanities. I do like the glass block window though, it lets in some gorgeous light.

Payton's room.

I love her new furniture!

This is Austin's room. It is really hard to get a good photo of a bedroom I have found.

This photo was sponsored by the letter "A". A is for Austin.

This is the guest bedroom. I have some work left to do in this room, though not a whole lot. Obviously I still need to trim out the paint near the ceiling & hang some paintings.

It has it's own bathroom. I hope some people come out and visit us.
I didn't bother taking photos of the garage, it is a mess still, but HUGE.
The basement will also have to wait, we are in the process of fixing it up for the kids. We put the old 65" big screen TV down there with the Wii and an air hockey table for now. We still need some carpet, some paint and some couches, maybe a pool table eventually.

Anyway, it's hard when you bought furniture for another house and you have to move it into a place completely different in style.

Week One In Nebraska

We made it to Nebraska. It was quite the drive, beautiful in some parts (Northern Virginia, West Virginia & Kentucky), completely depressing in others (Missouri, Kansas, Iowa). Gregg had his bike in tow and I had the cat, not sure who got the short end of the stick there.

We made it from VA to St. Louis on day one, that is just under a thousand miles in one day. The second day we drove from St. Louis to Papillion, stopping to take a photo at the state line. Nebraska is surprisingly not flat. It is beautiful here, rolling hills and all. The weather has been beautiful, high 60's and low 70's every day, though it is supposed to cool down starting today for snow next week. The people here are SO helpful and considerate. I think we are really going to enjoy our stay here in Nebraska.

As of today, our furniture isn't supposed to arrive until the 16th of November, so we've been camping out in the new place. As soon as we get our things I will try to post some photos of the new place.
I had to place the camera on the roof of my car, so it didn't turn out very well. But you can tell that we are all happy that we have finally arrived.

Here's a photo of part of the drive. I think this was West Virginia.

Here's my girl, Jolie, hanging out while I drive. She was so good on the drive & totally interested in her constantly moving surroundings.

This morning was the kids first day of school. We got up early and walked them there, since there is no bus service and the school only 12 houses down the street.

They were very excited, I'm sure it is going to be a very big day for them.
Gregg isn't going back to work until the second half of December & my first semester at the University of Nebraska isn't until January, so we have plenty of time to settle in.

Goodbye SBT-20

Today was Gregg's last day at work. He showed up to check out and say goodbye to all his guys. I convinced him that taking an office photo would be a good idea. Apparently his replacement took the photos while the guys had a good time acting up. Enjoy the good photo and the outtakes.

Note John Ross in the blue shirt up front. Just about every photo this guy is in, he's making this silly pose. I wonder if there is a story behind it?

Lupien flipping off the big boss man.
What's this?

Looks like they had a good time. Gregg has said many times that the Special Boat Team has been the most enjoyable job. The time there will always be looked back upon fondly.

Happy Halloween

Here are a few photos from our haunted evening. We had a great time with friends. I didn't get a whole lot of photos, but here are the good ones.

This is the first chance I've had to post these, we've been busy getting ready for the movers. The paintings are off the walls, furniture consolidated into rooms and nail holes have been filled and are ready to paint over. It's like a war zone in my house, very messy and stress inducing.

Tuesday the movers come to pack up our stuff... I cannot wait for things to be in order again.

Austin as a nerd and Payton as a zombie. I thought these costumes turned out pretty good, they were somewhat last minute. The kids had a good time and really enjoyed the evening.

Gregg and the cutest little Yoda ever.

Heather, Beau the spider, and Brooklynn as a dead softball player.

Such a cute picture. I am going to miss this family in particular more than any other, such a great, fun group of people.
