Neighborhood Tour

We are pretty well settled in. This area sure is surprising, not quite what we had pictured, but nice anyway. The people are really nice, but don't have the southern accent we had thought they would, it's more of a Canadian accent. The area is completely covered with rolling hills. And we were NOT prepared for the weather here.

The first week we arrived, it was in the 70's, so we were right at home in that weather. Since then it has sharply declined in temperature. Currently it hasn't broke 25 degrees and there was even some snow this morning, nothing stuck though. We all have gone out to get some REALLY heavy coats since this is just the tip of the iceberg weather wise, so I think we're ready for some Arctic temperatures. Here's our place, I braved the wind and cold to put up Christmas lights yesterday, even the contractors across the street were looking at me like I must be crazy. I don't believe that Gregg will be putting up the lights along the roof line, he's not big on heights.

This is the view from our family room window. It's really quite pretty at night. This was taken two days ago, before the sudden chill that had hit the area.

This is one of the roads leading into our neighborhood. The rolling hills were quite surprising when we arrived. We were really expecting landscape a lot more like Oklahoma.

This is Walnut Creek Lake and recreation area, it is just outside our neighborhood. It is 3 miles around this stocked lake on the running path. There are less than 20,000 people in Papillion, so we expected a shake up to our normal routine, but with Omaha less than 10 miles away, the transition has been quite easy. However, Omaha is a dirty, nasty, city for the most part (imagine Moore, OK), not a place I would want to live. I'm glad we chose to live out in the sticks. We are completely surrounded by cornfields and dirt roads.

It is quite nice around this lake, though today it is nasty cold and it really looks dreary in the photographs.

Just a random shot of our tree, looking out over the side of our house.

Here is the road the kids walk in front of our house to school. Twelve houses down, not such a long walk, except when it is 22 degrees like it was this morning.

This is the house going up across the street from us. The contractors were in a serious hurry to get the walls and windows up. Can't say I blame them, I certainly don't want to work outside in this weather either.
Anyway, I hope this post shuts my Aunt Sherri up, she's been hounding me for a week for photos of the area.

Thanksgiving In Woodward

We spent Thanksgiving this year in Woodward. I didn't get a lot of photos from the actual day, but I did get some random ones from the trip.

Grumpy Jimmy, what a lovely look.

Guess Liz likes him plenty. Glad someone does. Just kidding.

Here are Gregg and my Father cleaning deer. These two certainly did a lot of hunting while we were there in Woodward. I seriously think hunting was the main focus of this trip.

Austin even went twice.

I couldn't help but get a few photos of the landscape around Fort Supply, this one is my favorite.

Gregg shaved off his beard yesterday, too bad, I was really liking the new look.

Here's my serious Payton, deep in thought apparently.

What a wonderful trip. A special thanks to my Dad and Liz, we had a great time.
